The three types
- Motion detection — wakes and records when something moves nearby
- Impact detection (G-sensor) — a bump triggers recording and locks the clip
- Buffered parking mode — the gold standard: it captures the seconds before the impact too (VIOFO A229 Pro does this)
Power matters
Continuous parking mode needs a hardwire kit or a built-in battery (like the 70mai Omni). Budget cams with G-sensor-only wake need nothing extra.
