Wireless CarPlay Not Connecting? 7 Fixes That Solve 95% of Cases

Wireless CarPlay adapters are plug-and-play — until they aren't. Here are the fixes, in the order to try them.

  1. Forget & re-pair — delete the adapter from Bluetooth AND WiFi lists, then re-pair fresh
  2. Update firmware — most adapters (Ottocast, AAWireless) update via their app
  3. Turn off VPN — VPNs block the local connection CarPlay uses
  4. Use the original USB port — the port that supported wired CarPlay
  5. Check cable quality — data cable, not charge-only
  6. One phone at a time — disconnect the passenger's phone
  7. Power cycle — unplug adapter 10 seconds with ignition on
